unravelling, i’m travelling
in forest dark and deep
wounded pride, i seek and hide
glad servitude to sleep
split in two, i dream of you
imperfectly the whole
as~a~rule, i seem the fool
abandoned by my soul
would you be a witness to my final crucifixion
see that i am laid to rest
would you slay the tender vixen
beating underneath my breast
would you be a witness to my final crucifixion
see that i have owned the part
would you stop to get your licks in
taste this bleeding, broken heart
unravelling, i’m travelling
in forest dark and deep
so unreal, the pain i feel
sad company to keep
all in one, i come undone
a perfect paradox
sweet release, i found my peace
abandoning my flock
would you be a witness to my final crucifixion
wrap me gently in a shroud
would you smile to see me stricken
reaping remnants of the proud
would you be a witness to my final crucifixion
wrap me in a warm embrace
would you stop and stare transfixed
into my dis~believing face
unravelled, i have travelled
throughout the wand’ring wood
so labyrinthine, this path of mine
i’m struck down where i stood
burned and brought, reduced to naught
a wisp among these trees
still ash and bones, construct the tones
of moving melodies
would you be a witness to my final resurrection
see that i am on the road
would you think my fair complexion
less than i am owed
would you be a witness to my final resurrection
see the fire in my eyes
would you trust its true detection
if it weren’t so realised
unravelled, i have travelled
throughout a~maddening mood
a ground of snakes for one who takes
the path of dante’s rood
rise~up from death, then draw a breath
and blow upon the breeze
the songs you sing forever ring
throughout the centuries
would you be a witness to my final resurrection
wrap me in your loving arms
would you see g~d’s own reflection
in a girl with byron’s charms
would you be a witness to my final resurrection
see that i’m compassionate
would you recognise perfection
less than you imagined it
